  • Evo III Pricing

    Hello All,
This is my first post and my first question is; what an EVO 3 would worth if the car is on the ground and fully registered in California?

    Regards,

  • #2
Well there are other more important factors but I'd say around 25K for a car that is in good shape, perhaps even more.

    88 M3 - LACHSSILBER/M TECH
    89 M3 - ALPINEWEISS II/SCHWARZ
    85 323I S52 - ALPINEWEISS/SCHWARZ
    91 M TECHNIC TURBO - MACAOBLAU/M TECH

      many factors would be involved:

      1) condition of the car
      2) milage
      3) service history
      4) mods
      5) extend of work that was done to legalize it in the US

The car is bone-stock, approximately 85K miles, no accident. I have friends who have 2-Stroke GP bikes with CA plates on them. I have seen highly modified US M3 with 2.5L motors still pass CA SMOG and I am almost certain that Evo III will pass.

$25K like BR said? I saw bone-stock '89 US M3 in VA with low mile for $27K and it was sold!

Vlad is 100% correct here

Most important would be #5. and the extent of the legalization. The build dates on Evo III's require an airbag to be installed into the car. If the car has one your good to go, but if it doesn't - DOT can still come after you and make you crush the car or export it back to Europe if it wasn't done originally in the importation process.

Make sure the paperwork is legit. If the car is true, it will be a truly special car to have here in the U.S.

I would also check that it is a "Real" Evo3 and not a US based conversion as parts are available. To be sure check the VIN....it should end with AC79###.

              Chet,
The car is as real as it gets and the VIN *does* show AC79### (first 100 Evo 3's made). The glass shows matched VIN numbers and I do not know if the factory parts come like that.

I see in your signature that you do own a '90 Sport Evo. If you don't mind me asking; can you tell me what "modification" did you do to get registration in the US?

Everything but the airbag......car has been in the States since 1992.

                  Chet, I have three questions;
                  1) Does the window glasses on your car have VIN etched on them?
                  2) Does your car have the radiator fan infront of the motor (between motor and the radiator)?
                  3) What are the mods you did?

Mannn... you have GT3 and EVO 3?!?!?! Can you tell what the rest of us are not doing right?
