  • Lifespan of valves end valve springs?

    Hi,

I am rebuilding my engine end I don’t know if i need to buy new valves end springs for it.
Has anyone ever heard of valves breaking from old age?
At how many miles u normally change springs and valves?

The reason for not baying new ones is only a matter of €…
Here are some prices from the BMW dealer in € exc. tax.

    IN:
    Normal M3: 56,- 37 mm
    Evo 3: 106,- 38.5 mm
    3.8 E 34 M5: 46,- 38.5 mm

    Out:
    Normal M3: 47,- 32 mm
    Evo 3: 150,- 32 mm

    Thanks for helping me!

    Frans.

Since it will be apart you may want to replace the valve springs. No need to change the valves if they are good.

Thanks for your advice, I am planning to change the valve springs.

But I heard from a several tuners here in the Netherlands that, in general,
valves in two pieces (steel/st.steel) do not have a endless lifespan.
      So you understand my worries.
