  • S14 tickover

I always thought my track car was running out of revs before the redline at 7,200rpm. I started it tonight and noticed the revs sitting at 250-300rpm on the counter, but to the ear it was ticking over as it should be. Is there anyway for the needle to be adjusted as it's electronic?

You could have the wrong tachometer coding plug installed.

Could it be that someone has put the needle back on at the wrong angle. When the engines off, it just sits at it's normal position?

since it is reading 500-600 rpm low...(need to hook up a DVOM with tach function to verify)... it might be that some component in the Tachometer itself is dodgy. youmay have to send it to a clock fixer who does VDO. I don't know if weaker I/panel power cells would cause the problem.
