  • Need new wheels

My Tacoma just died from a blown head gasket. To fix it will cost more then the value of the truck. Thinking of getting an 06 Jetta TDI with a manual transmission.

They seem much more reliable then the gas version and I really need something that gets good mileage since I drive 400 miles every weekend in the winter to go to VT.

Thoughts? I also want to drive something i will NOT hate. Getting ready to buy a house so the budget is 10-15K and it needs to be a 4 door and good in the snow.

2003 WRX. cheap, fast, and fun. Also has a huge aftermarket and decent resale.

Nah 2.7 liter four cylinder. It had 200K so it did not owe me anything.

We just picked up an '08 Honda CRV. Apparently they are impossible to kill. My wife drives it and likes it.

Good gas mileage ... Honda Civic.

I have a 96 DX coupe, I drive 230 miles a day on 6.6 gallons of fuel. Jersey gas is cheap so Its usually under 11 bucks roud trip. When I go out for lunch it cost me an extra .75 cents of fuel per day.

Jettas and Passats in front wheel drive configuration, with manual transmission - put synthetic oil in (anti-sludge) and the bigger oil filter = 38 mpg on the highway.

I would have to keep to the speed limit or keep the tires at 40PSI to get that number.

                    Jetta's probably more fun though.

                    Cheers,

                    L.
