Question?

I am curious to know about the Blue/Red control shown in the picture below which has temperature figures on the dial.

The picture is of an E28, but I know that some E30 models had this too. Was it country / model / year specific. The question comes from another forum - No feedback yet.

Any clues members?

i have it in my M3 as well.........
in newer cars it is called climatronic
nearly the same system
