  • DTM fuel tank : Help needed

    Hi guys,

I've just bought a 110 liters DTM fuel tank. This one :

I'm looking for informations regarding the setup of the fuel system. Does a swirl pot is needed or not ? In the Gr.A manual there is no swirl pot, but I've already saw mountings with swirl pot

    Here with:

    Here without

Other question, can I put the externals pumps bosch 044 (see above) in this position (above the tank) without an internal pump ?

    Thank you for your help

If it were me personally I would go with the swirl pot and an internal lift pump. All the cars I have had (3) have had this setup and none ever gave any problem. The fuel return from the fuel rail is plumbed back into the top of this and any excess fuel is returned to the tank, also from the top of the swirl pot. Fuel for the prssure pumps is drawn from the bottom of the swirlpot alway giving a constant supply. On the last car, a long distance car, the "swirl pot" was of approximately 1 gallon capacity, and it had a warning light fitted to it which triggered when fuel started to get drawn off, warning you that you only had a gallon left. This was a really good setup .

Ok, thank you very much Grelley for the pic !
The other pump in my setup is a spare pump.

Just wondering! If one of your pumps fails or is off what keeps fuel from flowing backwards through the disabled pump? Do you need check valves with Boch 044 pumps? I know on my old IMSA Dtsun 240Z we needed them with Holley pumps!!!

Bosch 044 are equipped with check valves.
