  • 2.5L Rebuild Question

Whats going on everbody. I have a 1991 M3 and I am going to be doing the 2.5L bottom end upgrade from turner motorsport. I have done the 2.5 on an 89 that I owned a while back so this will not be my first time. I am curretnly in the process of making a parts list and would like everyone to read over it to see if you guys would recommend anything necessary ( yeah we all could use a stage 3 head but i have limited funds)or if I am forgetting many replacement parts.

TMS 2.5L bottom end kit which includes

    Oem BMW crackshaft w/ bearings
    nut spacer for crank
    2.5L head gasket
    bottom end gasket set
    TMS custom 2.5L chip
    2.5 forged pistons (11.25:1)w/ rings
    rod bolts/head bolts

    Replacement Parts

    Water pump & thermostat
    Oil pump w/ chain
    Timing chain
Timing chain tensioner E36 w/ spring
    Upper chain guide
    Left chain guide
    Lower tensioner rail
    Upper tensioner rail
    Cap/rotor/wires/plugs
    Oil filter
    Fuel filter
Valve cover gaskets (all 3 pieces)
    Belts: alternator/PS/AC

Parts I will inspect to see if they need replacement:

    Intake gaskets
    engine mounts
    trans mounts
    clutch assembly
    seals for transmition

Please give me so input. I would like to order all my parts and have them ready. I know I will be held up by a few parts here and there but I would like to be as ready as possible. Also if you guys know the cheepest place to order the parts from that would be cool. Let me know. Thanks ahead of time you all.

I have that 2.5 kit chip if you want to buy it.Less than Turner if he will exclude it from the kit.

    Exhaust studs & nuts

    Rubber high press fuel line

    Injectors cleaned & flow balanced

3 oil filters for break in period

Case of 10W40 oil for break in period

    Coolant hose set?

    Valve shim kit for adjustments

Buy the Motorsport valve springs and install them while the head is off. If you ever upgrade, or sell the car, you or someone else is set for an easier cam upgrade!

      ENGRISH????

You have to watch out for the bad CRACKshaft dealers...they may give you some bad shit....

Im sorry i had to do it....

Anyway your list looks OK...the standard things....definitely get new exhaust studs/bolts....id replace the hoses(taylor autosport silicone hoses )

Just purchase the timing chain kit...you'll save some money instead of purchasing each piece seperately...same goes with a head gasket kit(although you are getting the head gasket in the 2.5L kit)...

Maybe replace/resurface/lighten the flywheel? New clutch?

I offered you the CHIP for that kit which is designed to be used w/ a 2.5 bottom and all 2.3 stock induction.

I do not have the whole kit for sale

                  2.5L Rebuild Question

I was going to purchase the kit from a guy that bought it from TMS and back out of doing the kit. I have not talked to him in a few days so I dont know if the $1,700.00 deal is still on. The last time I did the 2.5L I had a friend buy all the individual pieces from various places with his dealers licence so he got the whole kit fairly cheep. The only bad thing is that it took 2 months to get all the parts. Who else sells the complete 2.5L kit and does it come with a 2.5L chip. I plan to have the car custom tuned in the future but I would like to have the car run close to what it should with the bottom end upgrade. Also, I am thinking of upgrading the valve springs and do cams. What is your imput on cams. I was think of doing schrick's. I want the car to be drivable on the street but would like some top end power. What schrick cams should I do and what prices have you seen them go for. Thanks

I am getting some cf airboxes built for real cheap, not no $1000+ dollars for a lighter box with no performance gains.Same specs as stock but cooler and lighter for about $500 or less.Basically,I do not need to make money of selling car parts.I have my jay o bee for that.
