  • Streetlegal Group A Build

    HI Guy's,

This is my first new topic on the forum in years.

Some of the oldtime members may still remember me and my car.
I own it for almost 20 years now.

Years ago I started stripping the car for restoration since I had some serious rust issues.
Worst place was the infamous spot, lots of us know, under the front window.

After all rust was fixed the car got a layer of epoxy.

Unfortunately live took over at that moment, and the car ended up in storage for the last 7 or 8 years.
In those years I even lost a bit of interest in the car and didn`t take any care for it at all.
Last year I got pretty serious into simracing and build a high-end PC with an Oculus Rift VR setup.
I took the E30 M3 DTM from Assetto Corsa to all famous racetracks in the world. What a blast that was in VR.
At one moment I stood next to my 1:1 fully build VR DTM car at the Nordschleife, and thought, why the F am I wearing these glasses
while if have a real car abandoned in storage.
I then started lurking here again, and on the Facebook group aswell, and got my interest back.
I`ve contacted Ton Vink from vinkmotorsport.com and discussed the possibilities for a restoration.
The chassis will be build up as Group A car, with some additional parts to make it steetlegal.
Yesterday we picked up the car from storage and brought it to his shop.
In the few comming week the car will be stripped completely and after that waterblasted to bare metal.

          Thanks Mick.

Updates will come for sure, but the build will take some time though.

This is gonna be great. The lack of e30 m3 build threads is sad. I really with I would've started one bringing mine back to life. Good luck on your journey. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
