I'm not sure what the long term effects would be to be honest. Does the removal of the relay
prevent the fuse from blowing?

You could try pulling the evaporative purge valve relay to see if the fuse stops blowing. This relay lives on the engine bulkhead behind a plastic panel at the rear of the coolant header tank..........
